The Lib Dems will give us a chance to stay in the EU

May 31, 2017 8:46 AM

Ed Reynolds (Robert Male Photography)As think tanks and even Jeremy Hunt admit that Brexit could be disastrous for the NHS, Liberal Democrat leader Tim Farron confirms that: "A brighter future is possible. We will stand up to a bad Brexit deal that would hit the NHS hard, and give people the final say with a chance to remain in the EU."

We will also put more ringfenced money into the NHS and ensure that EU nationals may stay here regardless of any EU deal.

Our manifesto says the "Liberal Democrats are open and outward-looking. We passionately believe that Britain is better off in the EU. We will fight against the Conservatives' disastrous hard Brexit - their choice to make the UK a poorer place.

"We acknowledge the result of the 2016 referendum, which gave the government a mandate to start negotiations to leave - but we believe the final decision should be made by the British people, not by politicians. Every vote for the Liberal Democrats is a vote to give the final say to the British people in a referendum on whether to accept the deal or remain in the EU."

We will fight to remain in the European single market to help businesses, the economy and universities. It is important to protect the future of our young people.

The Lib Dems are the only real alternative to the Conservatives in Rutland and Melton if you want a pro-EU MP from a pro-EU party.

(Also if you do not want either Theresa May or Jeremy Corbyn to have too strong a mandate.)
