Grahame Hudson, the Rutland and Melton Prospective Parliamentary Candidate and other members of the Liberal Democrat Friends of the Armed Forces group were actively involved in the defence and security debates at conference as well as the Royal British Legion fringe meeting on combat stress and other welfare issues affecting servicemen and women.

Grahame said, "At a time when our armed forces are overstretched as a result of the intensive operations in Afghanistan and Iraq, the British Legion and the Combat Stress charity are doing a marvellous job helping and supporting the increasing numbers of service and ex-service personnel suffering mental health problems. The success of the British Legion's Honour the Covenant campaign has stung the Labour Government into action but there is still more that they need to do to help these brave men and women and their families."
