Apart from a vast improvement of our share of the local vote, seeing a 3.7% swing from The Tories to us, the Rutland and Melton LibDems were also encouraged by a few other factors in the general election campaign.
Firstly, the number of donations received was far higher than expected and we would like to extend our sincere thanks to all those who contributed.
Secondly, the number of volunteers that came forward to help in the campaign was heartening with over 60 leaflet deliverers on the streets, some delivery as many as three times. Again, thanks to you all.
Thirdly, we managed to increase our membership by a massive 20%, a truly stunning amount and we are delighted to see more people getting involved. As an inclusive party we would like welcome all those who have recently joined. We are keen to see our membership reflect all corners of society and, in particular, younger people, so we urge you to come forward.
