News from the European Parliament from your local MEP

October 23, 2008 11:47 AM

The world's Financial crisis: the parliament this week asked for new EU proposals to regulate financial institutions more tightly. After the USA tried separate measures for helping their banks, and certain EU states tried their own solutions but found the problem was too big for them, the Euro-Zone leaders came together to create an EU solution, recognising that working together is more effective than apart.

You can now follow the everyday work in the parliament: All EP business is on the parliament's website at http://www.europarl.europa.eu/news/public/default_en.htm including live debates in the chamber and in committee. The parliament has four online TV channels at http://www.europarltv.europa.eu/StartPage.aspx And ITV have just opened a new web-link at http://www.itvlocal.com/central/myeurope/east/

Time Share: a new EU law was voted through this week to protect consumers across the EU.
