Roy Robinson
Local Lib Dem executive member Roy Robinson is standing in the Whissendine by-election for Rutland County Council. The elections take place on Thursday November 6th 2008. Roy has lived in Ashwell, near Whissendine, for seven years since retiring from the MOD. Grahame Hudson, parliamentary candidate for Rutland and Melton constituency, commented, "We are extremely privileged to have Roy as a candidate. It is essential that there should be more opposition to the current Tory council who are able to have everything their own way at the moment. Roy's background in the civil service makes him the person to help existing Lib Dems with the necessary scrutiny."
Roy and his wife Judy, who is also acting as his agent, strongly support village and family life. Since moving to Rutland, Roy has been chair of the Ashwell Parish Plan Steering group and Judy has published the New Wellspring Newsletter. They have a daughter, a son and six grandsons.
