The Liberal Democrats have launched a new web site, which reminds voters that 146 Tory MPs, including Rutland and Melton MP, Alan Duncan, voted for the war in Iraq. Those same 146 Tory MPs are now calling for a full inquiry into the events leading up to the decision to go to war and the conduct of the war itself. While this Tory conversion is most welcome and is better late than never, it does call into question the judgement of David Cameron, Alan Duncan and their colleagues at the time of the vote. Servicemen and women from Rutland and Melton's three defence bases continue to risk their lives on the front lines in Iraq and Afghanistan and they deserve better support from the Labour Government and the Conservative MPs. The Liberal Democrats will continue to push for a full inquiry and to hold the Labour and Tory MPs who voted for the war in Iraq to account.
