Many thanks to our outgoing councillors Ruth Archer and Cedric Phillips for all their hard work and achievements on Rutland County Council. Lib Dem Ruth Archer, who stood down after ten years, campaigned long and hard for RCC to introduce a fair trade policy. Due to her sustained effort this has now been done. Ruth also, with the help of fellow Lib Dem Marc Oxley, persuaded RCC to put tackling climate change into the local action plan. Special mention was made of Ruth at a recent council meeting. Ruth was the champion of foster children in Rutland and will be a very difficult act to follow as she visited them all. Cedric Phillips scrutinised and, where necessary, opposed the council. Let's hope there will still be some much needed opposition to this mostly Tory council.
