Ruttles win Euro Quiz

A Rutland team won the quiz at Grantham. Many thanks to our hosts and to Bill Newton Dunn MEP for an entertaining and informative evening.
On 3rd February, East Midlands LibDems met at The King's Hotel, North Parade, Grantham at 7.30pm. The evening was very well organised by Martin & Jenny James with a fun quiz followed by a speech and Q & A session with Bill who talked in depth about democracy, enlargement and the constitution.
Bill feels that because the outside world regards the EU as a success, especially with regard to peace and trade, that all our neighbours want to join including the Ukraine and perhaps even Russia. So where do we draw the line? Or indeed do we draw a line?
With regard to the EU constitution he thinks the word itself is troublesome and that the British are kept uninformed. The constitution would have made the EU more democratic and its institutions more accountable and open. We need to push ahead and revise the rules.
